About LGW

Gatwick, within easy reach of London, is the busiest single runway airport in the world, and is the second largest airport in the UK and eighth largest in Europe. Currently there are around 90 airlines which operate from the two terminals, serving over 200 destinations. It is located just 28 miles from London and with excellent rail and road connections, it is a convenient local choice for millions of people.

The check in areas are on the second floor of each terminal. To find your check-in zone, look up your flight on the information screens near the entrance. Check- in zones are clearly signposted by illuminated yellow cubes. There's plenty to do in the departure lounge, whether you want to visit the shops, cafés and bars or just relax ahead of your flight.

What To Do

Attractions

Also known as the “Old Lady of Threadneedle Street Museum,” the Bank of England Museum tracks the bank’s history from 1694 to its current role as the nation’s central bank. Gold bars date from ancient times, and pikes and muskets used to defend the bank are also on display. read more

Getting Around

Probably the most useful transportation method for the visitor to London is the tube, or Underground. The London Underground can be properly said to have begun in 1890 when an electrically-powered line was opened between King William Street and Stockwell. There are now 12 lines plus the Docklands Light Railway serving millions of travelers around London every day. read more

Shopping

Nestled in the heart of the The City, in the shadow of Christ Church, Spitalfields Market offers the perfect antidote to out-of-town shopping malls. read more

Dining

Check out the fashionably funky chrome, factory-like interior and long tables at Belgo Centraal in Covent Garden. The "Mini Belgo" menu allows kids aged 12 or under to eat for free at all times (one child eats free per adult ordering a main meal from the a là carte menu). read more
